Meet The Doctor

Pat Wimonsri, DMD (2)

Pat Wimonsri

General Dentist

Dr. Pat Wimonsri was born and raised in Thailand. He received his undergraduate degree in Medical Technology from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, graduating as his class’s valedictorian. After graduation, he worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the leading cancer hospital in the world. He was promoted to Senior Technologist before deciding to pursue a career in dentistry. Dr. Wimonsri graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine with honors in personalized care, radiology, and oral medicine.

While in school, Dr. Wimonsri learned how to care for patients with disabilities and patients needing special accommodations. The traditional approach has been to treat these patients surgically under general anesthesia, but at Penn’s Personalized Care program, patients are instead cared for with treatment modifications. Penn’s Radiology Honors program, of which Dr. Wimonstri also took part, is designed to provide an overall in-depth knowledge of all aspects of imaging in dentistry — above and beyond what is traditionally taught at the DMD level. Dr. Wimonsri also worked with Penn’s Oral Medicine faculty to diagnose and treat medically related disorders and conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial region. He used both dental and general medical knowledge to provide holistic care for patients with orofacial disorders, oral manifestations of systemic disease, and orofacial complications of medical therapies.

Upon graduating, Dr. Wimonsri received the “HANAU – Best of the Best Prosthodontics Award 2023” from Whip Mix Corporation. This award is given to one dentist from Penn’s graduating class who demonstrated outstanding knowledge and skills in the study and practice of Prosthodontics. Dr. Wimonsri also received the “Anitha MD Award for Excellence in Compassionate Patient Care”. This award is given to a dentist who demonstrated exceptional care and compassion for patients while working in Penn’s Oral Medicine, Radiology, and Medically Complex Care Clinics.

Cooking is one of Dr. Wimonsri’s biggest passions. He learned to cook by watching his mom and grandmother prepare traditional Thai dishes like panang curry, papaya salad, laab, and everything in between. Since moving to the U.S., cooking these same dishes now makes him feel close to his family. He enjoys having friends over for dinner — cross your fingers for an invite!
