Convenient Access from Beach Haven West
From the lagoons to our chair is usually a 10-minute drive, so anyone who needs a dentist near Beach Haven West has Dental Arts Group close at hand. We are on Route 72 West in Manahawkin, and our dentists provide checkups, gum treatment, crowns, implants, dentures and night guards for year-round and seasonal residents alike.
A good starting point is Mill Creek Park on Mill Creek Road, with its tennis courts, bocce, shuffleboard and walking track. Drive north on Mill Creek Road for a little over a mile to Route 72, then turn west. Route 72 carries you about 4 miles through Manahawkin and past the Garden State Parkway's Exit 63 interchange. Turn at Barnacle Drive and you have arrived at 1322 NJ-72 Ste 1.
The trip covers roughly 5 miles, and in summer the Route 72 corridor near the bridge can slow everything down, so allow extra time in season. Our Google Maps listing shows the building, a multi-tenant office where we are Suite 1. Neighbors in Cedar Run and across the bay in Ship Bottom come to us the same way, along Route 72.
Steady Dental Care for the Lagoon Community
Beach Haven West is a community of Stafford Township on the Manahawkin Bay side, and despite the name it is not part of the borough of Beach Haven on Long Beach Island. Herbert and Jerome Shapiro began building on the old Remson Meadows salt marsh in 1957. The plan created more than 130 saltwater lagoons and lined them with roughly 5,000 single-family homes on narrow waterfront lots.
The houses tell the story of each decade: expandable Cape Cods on Selma Drive, ranch models, Post-Modern homes in East Point and Village Harbour, and Colonial styles in Colony Lakes. Many started as summer places. Over time more owners have settled in year-round, and today the community skews older, with plenty of seasonal homes still in the mix.
Community life here is close-knit. The Beach Haven West Civic Association, based on Mill Creek Road, hosts playgroups and civic meetings, and Mill Creek Park draws walkers, tennis players and shuffleboard regulars. In a neighborhood like that, word of mouth matters, and we want to earn it one visit at a time.
That mix shapes the kind of dental home people here want. Seasonal owners need records that carry over from one visit to the next, while full-time residents want a team that knows their history. We serve both, and the comprehensive exam we give every new patient creates a clear starting point.
Dental Health Priorities for Beach Haven West Residents
In Beach Haven West, with its mature population, many patients arrive with years of dental work already in place. Old fillings crack, crowns wear and gums recede, exposing softer root surfaces that decay faster than enamel. A careful review of existing work is one of the most useful things a checkup can do.
Some Beach Haven West owners split the year between two homes and two dentists. Bringing recent x-rays or treatment notes to your first visit helps our dentists pick up where the last office left off, so nothing is repeated without a reason.
The DAG Comprehensive Exam is built for exactly that. It reviews your medical history and goals, takes digital x-rays and intraoral photos, examines the gums, screens for oral cancer and checks every surface under 2.5 to 6.0x magnification. It also looks at missing teeth and screens for sleep-disordered breathing.
Medications are another common factor. A number of common prescriptions reduce saliva, and dry mouth raises the risk of decay. In-office fluoride varnish, offered to patients taking dry-mouth medications, helps protect teeth that no longer get much natural rinsing.
Sleep problems can also be hard on teeth. Clenching through the night, snoring and broken sleep often go unnoticed until a spouse mentions them or a tooth chips. Our dentists look for wear patterns at each visit and can talk through a guard or a sleep appliance if the signs are there.

Excellent team and atmosphere. The front desk is helpful and friendly, as was the hygienist that took care of me. The doctor was amazing as well. I’m happy to say after many years of trying to find a new dentist, I’ve finally found where I’ll be visiting from now on.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Dental Arts Group from Beach Haven West, and how do I get there?
Our office is about 5 miles from Mill Creek Park, or roughly 10 minutes by car. Head north on Mill Creek Road to Route 72, then drive west through Manahawkin and past Parkway Exit 63 to Barnacle Drive. If you have been searching for a dentist near Beach Haven West, the whole route stays on Route 72 once you leave the lagoons.
What does the new-patient comprehensive exam include?
It includes a medical and dental history review, a talk about your goals, digital x-rays, intraoral photos, a gum exam and an oral cancer screening. Our dentists check for cavities under magnification, review existing crowns and fillings, discuss missing teeth and screen for sleep-disordered breathing. You also get a breakdown of what your insurance covers.
Is fluoride varnish only for children?
No. Children and teens get it often, but adults can benefit as well. Fluoride varnish is recommended for people taking medications that cause dry mouth, patients with braces and anyone who has had a recent cavity. It strengthens enamel, and our dentists will tell you whether it makes sense at your next cleaning.
Can old silver fillings be replaced with tooth-colored ones?
Often, yes. When an old metal filling is cracked, leaking or decayed underneath, our dentists can replace it with a white composite filling. If the remaining tooth is too weak, a digital ceramic crown may be the better repair. A filling that is still sound can usually stay in place.
Can parents and kids book back-to-back visits?
Yes, when the schedule allows. Mention each person when you call or book online, and our front desk will try to line the appointments up in one block. That works well for grandparents bringing visiting grandchildren, too. Fridays start at 6:00 AM, and Mondays run until 6:00 PM.
